Recap
More than 1,400 runners lined up at Hatirjheel on the morning of 28 August, and they kept running when the rain came down. Families ran with the flag, veterans took the red carpet to the finish line, and a young champion shared the prize-giving stage with a veteran runner.
Registration filled fast, with 644 runners signing up in the first two hours. On race day, the NSU'ers flashmob took over the amphitheatre stage, artist Morshed Mishu's giant Messi mural covered the amphitheatre steps, and every finisher went home with the Nakshikantha medal.
Sports Minister Aminul Haque joined us as Chief Guest. Jamuna TV and online news portals covered the day, and the event reached around 10 million people online. Thank you to our 22 brand and media partners, led by title partner Twelve Clothing and MG, and to every runner and volunteer who made it happen.
Next up: Ashtabarna Marathon 2026, on 27 November 2026 at Hatirjheel.
About
Twelve Nakshikantha Marathon 2026, Driven by MG, was a mass-participation run held on 28 August 2026 at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre and lakefront in Dhaka, organised by Run NSU'ers and The World Challenger.
The run was built around the nakshi kantha, the hand-embroidered quilt that Bengali families have stitched and passed down for generations. Runners wore the official Nakshikantha jersey, and finishers received the Nakshikantha medal, the sixth in our collectible medal series.
There were three distances, up to 15K, on the lakefront course, and anyone could enter, from school-age runners and families to first-timers and veterans.
